At two in the morning on Wednesday, July 31, 1715, seven days after departing from Havana, Cuba, under the command of Juan Esteban de Ubilla, eleven of the twelve ships of this fleet were lost in a hurricane near present-day Vero Beach, Florida. Because the fleet was carrying silver, it is also known as the 1715 Plate Fleet (plata being the Spanish word for silver). External LinkIn 1950 when Patty was a young girl, her family was traveling down to Florida from Kentucky. Exhausted and hungry, they stopped to eat at a restaurant. The barefooted family made their way to the front door. There was a sign that read “No shoes, No shirt, No service”. Everyone made their way back to the car to get their shoes on. Unfortunately, Patty was the only kid who couldn’t find her shoes and had to wait in the car. Patty imagined a place where everyone was welcomed, whether they had their shoes or their shirt on, they would be able to be served- no problem! That was the moment that today’s Archie’s was born! Over the past several years Patty has partnered with Suzy Nash , to continue the wonderful tradition of Food, Family, Music & Fun. Suzy is a Nashville recording artist with several CDs and Music Videos.

When you step into Importico’s, you are welcomed by the intoxicating aroma of fresh homemade breads and baked goods, handcrafted by skilled artisans utilizing methods originating centuries ago in Europe. Our inspiration comes from those famous old-world French and Italian bakeries and the wonderful neighborhood bakeries many of us grew up with… when we woke up eager and wide eyed, ready to venture out and bring home delicious pastries and a fresh loaf of bread. Sharing this appreciation is our dream, and we are thrilled to introduce these memories to a whole new generation of bakery lovers.

External Link"ALL the nostalgic feels here! My family and I have been coming to Strawberry's once a year for my entire life. It's one of our favorite things about our annual trip to Hutchinson Island. This little mom and pop shops offers just about everything of your typical diner - burgers, milkshakes, deli sandwiches, hot dogs, and ice cream sundaes. I can't speak to their food because honestly I've never had it, but from what I've seen, it looks delicious. The ice cream on the other hand, I will give a huge thumbs up! I've had so many scoops over the years and haven't met a flavor that I don't like. This time around I went for the Kahlua Almond Fudge in a waffle cone... absolutely delightful. It was perfectly creamy with just enough crunch from the almonds and plenty of chocolate throughout. It's definitely a fun, old school spot for families to enjoy! See you next year, Strawberry's." - Jessica J, Milwaukee, WI
